His mothers obesity was one of Gilbert’s biggest problems, he was unable to take care of the family Gilbert assumed the position of a parent, which really never gave him time for fun or socializing. Gilbert takes on so many responsibilities such as taking care of Armie and working in order to care for the family. I think Gilbert resents his mother because of all of the things he misses out ....
