Education Of The Gifted And Talented Student
.... and talented students, and for
what reasons do we classify them in this way? There is great diversity
among gifted and talented children, and as with any child, each exhibits
unique qualities. Yet, there are fundamental characteristics that are
commonly associated with giftedness and are generally observed in different
levels in most of these children. An article in the Instructor categorizes
these qualities as "..creative, perfectionistic and intellectual" and
asserts that gifted and talented childr .....

Technology In Improving Education Standards
.... tasks are very
important, they only show a small part of what technology can do for a
school. Technology must go further than simply keeping attendance; it must
focus on keeping students interested and productive.
Since computers and the Internet have expanded in such a way in
which education can be delivered to students, it is currently possible to
engage in "distance education through the Internet. Distance education
involves audio and video links between teachers and students in remote

Grades Do Not Acurrately Reflect What A Student Has Learned
.... isn't satisfied. In many
cases, a student merely memorizes the material needed to get a good mark on
a test, and everything is forgotten within a few days. The student gets
the A, and in turn has learned nothing.
People assume that students who have all A's are always more
intelligent than students whose grades aren't quite as high. For example,
Susan could take Mickey Mouse classes all year long, pull straight A's, and
walk away with less knowledge than Philip, who has taken more difficult
classes a .....

The Charter School Movement In New Zealand And England
.... local participation in decision making, save money by cutting
down on costly administration and foster innovation through competition.
(Lawton, 23) Others insist it is part of the neo-liberal agenda to crush
labour unions, and allow the market to operate unfettered without costly
government intervention. These people contend that adoption of a market
based system will lead to a two-tiered system of winners and losers and
that those in greatest need of support will fall by the wayside. (Barlow, .....

Time Makes A Big Difference
.... lasts to long.
Now, I'll tell you a little more about that subject.
Notice how more kids get in trouble at the end of the day than at
the beginning? The reason is so simple to understand! Kids get restless
when they are bored for a long time. That's another area where my idea
would help. It would shorten the day from 7 hours to 4 hours. A 3 hour
difference! Kids also daydream when they are bored. They could miss
important information that the teacher is explaining because they are
thinking about .....

Should Students In Public Schools Wear Uniforms: Negative
.... for them every day? They need to make
their own decisions. Trying to control ones thoughts over uniforms is
wrong. American Civel Liberties union of Massachusetts reported that due
to the new release of uniforms in Laurence High school, attendance of
students has dropped rapidly and 600 students have been given detention and
200 have been suspended (most likley due to jobs on weekends). Obviously
did the oposite of what uniforms are suppost to solve.

Computers In Schools
.... 1970s computers became smaller
and less expensive, but the schools still did not use them much throughout
most of the decade. By the end of the seventies, computer use in the
schools started to increase. Students began to have hands-on experience.
In less than a decade, computer use progressed from programming
classes for a few of the better students, to literacy classes for all
students, to the integration of computers and technology into the
curriculum.
Computers are not only used for educating, in th .....

Teachers
.... how difficult it is
for a student to complete such a large task in such a small amount of time.
Completely opposite from the "you wanted MORE homework?" teacher is
the "indefinite-deadline teacher." This teacher assigns a mild amount of
homework, with few - if any - large projects. A conversation with this type
of teacher generally follows this pattern:
Teacher: Do you all have your assignment done?
Student: No… can we have another day to work on it?
Teacher: Well… I guess so.

Argumentative Essay: Not Delaying A College Education
.... can be a fun experience if shared with friends and people of
similar age. By waiting an extra year or two, you will find it more
uncomfortable within your classes. The entire college experience involves
parties, football games, and drinking beer with your buddies as well as an
education. As you get into the entire experience and enjoy college, you
will understand and appreciate what a college offers.
The ideal time for college is now more than ever as you also have
scholarships and your paren .....

Bilingual Education
.... classes which are taught in
English (Sjoerdsma 504K2721). This is, of course, how bilingual education
should work in theory. This is not, however, the case.
Critics of bilingual education say that "the objectives of the
classes are confused, the quality of instruction is poor," and the
"transition" time, when students transition into regular classes, is murky
(Schrag 14). Critics believe that the goals of bilingual education have
been forgotten and replaced with the need to "preserve native culture .....

Studying In The Computer Science Field
.... and how to use them. Every person has a different way they type, a
different style, so every one has a special way in which they use their
computer. Some like it this way and some like it another. A person must
develop a bond with that computer they will learn to like their computer
and only their computer. No other computer is the same.I know I like to
use my computer because I know exactly how to use it and when something is
wrong I know how to fix it. It is just a bond between man and machine.

The Arts Should Be A Part Of The School Curriculum
.... that any spoken language helps to
convey one's thoughts, but everyone thinks in a different way. For example,
in order to speak to a non-English speaking person and clearly convey a
message, both people need to know the basics of the same language.
Associating this concept with the arts, it would be as difficult to
communicate a concept of the arts with someone who is not educated in the
arts. Another example would be that many foreigners sing American songs
using their interpretation of our language.

Internet In The Classroom
.... is generally a
standard Windows-based PC or Macintosh and a 14.4 Kbs or higher modem. This
will cost about $1000 apiece. If the average school has 50 classrooms, already
the cost has risen to $50,000 per school, for only one connection per classroom.
Next you need actual Internet service. For 24-hour connections expect to pay
$100 or more per month, per account.
If a school plans to have more than a few individual Internet users, it will
need to consider a network with a high-speed dedicated line .....
