The Odyssey and Gilgamesh Throughout the epic poems The Odyssey and Gilgamesh both characters reveal traits of an epic hero. Both characters share god-like traits and have a variety of enemies. Each hero presents physical strength, but also goes through the emotional effects of loneliness. Each of the heroes in some way become unselfish in the end. Each hero has god-like traits.
